Build My App is the app that lets you become the next big iPhone/iPad app designer! Have a great idea for an app but don't know how to program? Well, you are in the right place. Submit your idea through the "Submit" tab in the app and if you are chosen as a finalist, and voted as the best idea, we will make your app and put it in the App Store! Here is how it works...

Rules:
Submissions
Any individual can submit their own original idea. You can not submit an idea you do not own, or anything that has a copyright or other trademark. Your submission must consist of a text description only. Be detailed! Submit your idea only once. You will be asked to supply contact info so we can contact you if you are chosen as a finalist. If you do not supply correct info and we can not contact you, we will choose another finalist. Make sure you use a valid email address and that you type it correctly. An In-App Purchase must be made in order to submit your idea. You can submit as many ideas as you want, but you will need to purchase the In-App Purchase for each submission.

Posting Of Submissions In App
Only the 5 finalists will be posted in the app. If we do not choose your idea, you can submit it again when the next round opens if you choose. We will not post every submission that we receive.

Protection/Ownership Of Submissions
Your idea is your idea. Any person using this app and accepting these terms electronically agrees that they will not use any of the ideas/apps they see in this app. No one will be able to view the ideas until they agree to these terms. However, this does not mean people will not try to steal your idea. We will do our best to defend that, but you take the risk of exposing your idea by submitting it. If you are not chosen as a finalist or the winner, we will not use your idea.

Voting
Every few months, (schedule posted in app), we will choose the 5 best submissions and put them up for vote in the app. Get your friends and family and anyone you can to vote for your submission. You can only vote once per day per device. After 3 weeks of voting, the app with the most votes will become the winner. You can vote for your own app.

Building Of App
The app will be built over the weeks following the vote and submitted to Apple for the App Store. As long as Apple approves it, it will go live.

Money
Apple keeps 30% of all sales and the developer gets 70%. That 70% will be broken up as follows: 35% to you. 20% to taxes. 15% to the developer for development costs and upkeep. You will receive your share of the money quarterly as long as Apple has paid it to the developer. You are responsible for your own taxes. This is all covered in the contract

Privacy:
None of your info will ever be shared, posted, sold, etc. Period. We will, with your permission, post your name with your app if you are chosen as a finalist and/or winner.

Legal:
If chosen as a finalist, you must sign the developer contract prior to being listed in the app for voting. If you choose not to, we will choose another finalist.

Why are you doing this?
To give people a chance to make a cool app without paying a developer thou$$ands of dollar$$. Plus if your idea is a big hit, we get 15% of that!

Why won't you list all apps for voting and let them all be voted on?
First, the more ideas that are posted, the more chance of someone stealing it. Second, if we get hundreds of ideas, reading them all will be a nightmare for the voters and the ones at the end of list may get less attention because people will not read that far. And there will be some ideas that won't be able to made due to many reasons, such as Apple won't accept it, its already been done, it requires a team of developers and resources larger than what we have, etc.

How much will my app sell for if I win?
We will discuss that with you when you win. We may even put it up for a vote in the app while the next round of submissions is going on. The price can be changed anytime, so we will find a price that suits the app.

How many apps will you build?
The plan is to do this every few months as long as the submissions are still coming in and people are interested in it. At some point we may stop, but we will complete the round we are in first and anyone who bought a token will have a chance to use it before we stop.

Why do I have to pay for a token to submit my idea?
Quite honestly, having a developer and graphic artist build your app could cost you $5,000 or more depending on the complexity. It could even be $50,000. With that said, the developers of this app could be making apps for people at those rates. In order for us to do this program we have to dedicate our time to it, we need that money to cover our labor and expenses while we build your app. And, it's only $1.99.

But aren't you keeping 15% of the app sales?
Yes, but there is no guarantee that the app will sell enough to compensate us back. If it does sell well, then there will probably be requests for upgrades and maybe tweaks. So we would use that money to cover those costs.

Speaking of upgrades, do I get to stay involved with the app after it is built and be a part of the upgrades?
Yes. You will have the option of being involved in all aspects of the app for it's life. It was your idea so why would we leave you out?

How do I know you will pay me?
Apple would revoke our developer license if they received complaints that we are not living up to our end of the bargain.

Will the app be listed under my name?
Unfortunately, the way iTunes is set up, no. But the first line in the description will say APP DEVELOPED BY: YourNameHere, Winner of the Build My App Contest, Round #X! And the website and all other related media will state that you are the creator.

Can I submit the app to Apple under my Apple Developer account?
We could negotiate that at some point. We would have to have more contracts to ensure the payments are made correctly. But if that is something you want to do, we can discuss it.

How will I know if I am a finalist?
We will contact you via email or phone. Whatever you set up in the app when you registered. If you gave a bad email address or number, then we won't be able to find you. We may be able to get to you through the app itself, but we aren't going to go crazy tracking people down. You need to give good contact info.

I have an iPad and an iPhone. Can I use both?
Yes, you login to your account to get and use tokens and to vote. You can use any of your devices for this. You can even vote for your app more than once per day if you have multiple devices. Voting is limited to one per day per device. If you have an iPad and iPhone and iPod, you can vote three times that day!

Are there any limitations on what you can develop?
Probably. We won't be launching rockets or doing facial recognition, but we are pretty capable.

If voting has begun, how long will I have to wait to submit my idea?
You don't have to wait at all. When voting begins, the apps for the current round are cleared out, with the finalists moved to the voting page, and any new submissions go in for the next round.
